Dr. Jesus Martinez is originally from Southern California where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of California, Irvine. He moved to Chicago where he attended the Illinois College of Optometry and obtained his Doctor of Optometry. During his graduate studies, Dr. Martinez was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa Honors Society. Immediately following graduation, he completed his fellowship in Cornea and Contact Lenses at the Texas Eye Research & Technology Center.
Dr. Martinez has years of experience in private practice and corporate optometry. He has also worked with Vision to Learn, an organization dedicated to providing free eye exams and glasses to school-age children.
Dr. Martinez is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Society. He is also an active member of the National Keratoconus Foundation, Nevada Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. Dr. Martinez was the recipient of the Bert C. and Lydia M. Corwin Contact Lens Residency Award. He has also authored publications in optometric journals and has been an editor for a clinical optometric textbook.
Dr. Martinez practices full-scope optometry and has received advanced training in corneal disease and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Martinez diagnoses and manages ocular disease including diabatic retinopathy, macular degeneration and dry eye. He also co-manages LASIK and cataract surgeries. He is currently associated at LASIK Vision Institute.
In his spare time, Dr. Martinez enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with his dog Yoshi. He also considers himself a foodie and can be seen exploring restaurants all over the Las Vegas Valley.
Dr. Martinez is bilingual in English and Spanish.
